How we work

Swoon meets clients where they are—whether it’s a full-on reno, design refresh or consultation, we provide the same services level to each client. Our process is designed to make your experience seamless, transparent and enjoyable.

Phase 1 / Inspiration + Discovery

It’s hard to imagine your lived-in space in a completely new way, but that’s why we’re here.

Our on-site consultation takes only an hour during which we’ll:

  • Examine the pros and cons of your space

  • Explore how your space is used and its desired function

  • Discuss high-level solutions

  • Understand your budget

At the end of the hour, you’ll have the information you need to take the next step… the design process.

When we begin design, we start by setting the vibe using images that appeal to you; these can be shots of spaces, materials, artwork or furniture…imagine a robust mood board!

Then, Swoon takes all the inspo and synthesizes its essence into a new aesthetic solution for your home.

Phase 2 / Refining the Layout

After we align on the design direction and space functionality, we move on to layout solutions; determining how your space will flow. By walking you through the layout options, you’ll understand and feel confident in the one we choose.

At this point, you might be wondering if we should have a contractor or architect involved; however, starting with a designer is more cost-saving. It is much easier to get accurate quotes from contractors and an architect (if needed) after space planning is complete. We do numerous revisions because we want to get it right, and we also want to ensure that our decisions fit your needs and budget.

Phase 3 / Planning the Dream

Now comes the best part… 3D renderings and material selections. Swoon will research, search and guide you through the material selection process to make your vision come to life.

Once we’re aligned, we put together a Build Packet, which is construction documentation that will help our vendors understand your wishes and provide more accurate estimates.

Then we begin the bid process:

  1. We recommend contractors and builders (and architect, if needed), that we trust and know will provide you with the highest level of quality and service.

  2. We get several quotes and compare them.

  3. We choose the right team to execute your dream!

Clients say this part of our process provides peace of mind and saves them the headache of ensuring dimensions and quantities are correct.

Phase 4 / Implementation

It’s time to unleash the plan and get started. Deep breaths.

First step… ordering materials:

  • Purchasing materials before demo expedites the process

  • Having materials prior to contractor engagement avoids any fees that waiting for their arrival may incur

  • Swoon can purchase materials for you at an additional cost

From the first drilling sounds to the installation of that incredible light fixture, Swoon is at the helm, managing your dream come true.

We work with the build team to keep your project on track, timeline and budget-wise. We remain your point of contact throughout the project to its completion.
